In a country where gun violence has become tragically routine, even the symbols we use in our daily lives reflect a culture desensitized to violence. When Elon Musk replaced the water gun emoji with a real gun emoji on X, it wasn’t just a digital update—it was a reminder of how deeply embedded guns have become in everyday communication and culture.
We took the most shocking mass shooting stories and converted them into emoji-only narratives to reveal how deeply violence is ingrained in our communication. A story told through emojis, ending with a reminder: Small Symbols, Big Consequences.
